Limnos

17/7/2015

We continued from Thasos to Limani, but unfortunately the wind didn`t pick up as forecasted. It was an uncomfortable passage under engine, with the swell beam on for several hours.
The anchorage in the bay of Mirinia under the byzantine castle is very pleasant and comfortable and we stayed for almost one week before we continued to Ormos Kondia on the south coast.
During our stay we rented a jeep and visited a winery (more here).

Cruising Northern Aegean Sea

We spent several days at various anchorages around Nisis Dhiaporos. Close by is the village of Panayia, where we did buy excellent fresh fish and seafood.

One day we sailed across the bay to Ammouliani, but as the holding of our anchor in the weed was too bad, we went back the same evening for two more nights, before we went along the west coast of Akti peniunsula to have a view at the monastries of Mount Athos.
Our next destination was Skala Marion on Thasos, where we anchored behind the breakwater for one night before we proceeded to the harbour of Port Thasos, which is a very nice town with many good restaurants, museums and archeological sites.
Thasos is a very pleasant, green island which was famous for the marble in ancient times. We rented a car for a few days, explored the mountain villages and hiked up to the highest peak Ipsarion (1209 m).
